Wolves Set to Continue Europa League Progression
Wolves have two rounds between themselves and the group stages of the Europa League, and they continue their quest to make that round with a trip to Armenia on Thursday evening. They take on minnows Pyunik Yerevan, who have already played two rounds to get to this stage, but this may be as far as they are going to go, coming up against one of the strongest teams in the competition at this stage.
The Armenians have been far from convincing in the first two rounds, eventually winning both games by a one goal margin on aggregate. This is a massive step up for them, and unless something major happens, the expectation is that they will be outclassed here by the Premier League side.
Wolves had a great first season in the Premier League, finishing 7th at the end of the season to gain a place in this competition. Much of the same is expected from them, and after getting a taste of what it is like to play in Europe, they will no doubt be looking to qualify for this competition again through their league performance during the upcoming campaign.
It was all too easy for them against Irish side Crusaders in the last round of their qualifying bid, eventually coming away with a 6-1 aggregate win. They played very well away from home, looking professional throughout their 4-1 victory in Ireland and that is exactly what they will be aiming for again this time around, although admittedly a trip to Armenia does offer different challenges to a short plane ride over the Irish Sea to Ireland.
Pyunik Yerevan vs Wolves Betting Tips
Assuming Wolves face no problems playing in Armenia, this should be a very comfortable evening for them. In terms of quality, they are streets ahead of their opponents, and with the Premier League looming, they would love to wrap this game up in the first leg, allowing them to rest anyone they want in the second leg at home next week.
Not only do I think Wolves will win this one, but I think they will win this with ease and that is why I will be backing them on the -1 handicap line that is available. This adds additional value and is the way to go in a game that I can see Wolves winning by two or three goals as they show their class.
