Uruguay And Ecuador Clash In Copa America
The Copa America got underway with Brazil vs Bolivia last night, as the Brazilians were able to take their first step towards what they hope will be a successful tournament. Beyond that, though, there are many, many other top nations in the running to try and lift the trophy in just a few short weeks. We’re going to be looking at two more of them today, as Uruguay and Ecuador prepare to square off. With the two nations being located at opposite ends of South America, it’s always interesting to see how their styles match up.
Uruguay haven’t exactly been on the best run of form over the course of their last few games, and that isn’t exactly news. They kicked off their most recent run with an impressive 4-1 triumph, before going on a run of four consecutive defeats. They lost to South Korea, Japan, Brazil and then France, and while they are some tough games, they certainly had their part to play in the defeats. In their last outing, though, they were able to pick up a delightful 3-0 win over Panama that seemed to get them ever to slightly back on track.
Ecuador’s last six games began with a win over Peru, followed up by another triumph – this time against Panama. They then lost out to the United States in a narrow game, before a 0-0 draw with Honduras. They then had another draw against Venezuela, and in a back and forth encounter with Mexico, they lost 3-2.
In terms of team news it seems like both Suarez and Cavani are doubts for Uruguay, with Gomez and Stuani being benched. Enner Valencia isn’t a guaranteed starter but should feature in some form, with Banguera and Dominguez battling it out for a place in the starting XI.
Uruguay vs Ecuador Betting Prediction
It really does feel like Uruguay’s experience is going to play a big role in this tournament, and for that reason, we’re backing Uruguay to be the ones who get the first win on the board between these two sides. They’ve got experience, they’ve got a few fresh faces, and they always seem to know how to step up when the big tournaments come around. Ecuador are almost certainly going to put up a fight, but we don’t think that they’ve got it in them to push Uruguay all the way. We could be wrong, but that’s what we love about the beautiful game.
