Tunisia Fancied to End Madagascar Run
The game between Tunisia and Madagascar will be the last of the four quarter finals in the African Cup of Nations and after this game has been played we will know the four semi finalists. Senegal are already through and they are waiting for the winner of this game, with the semi final to be played on Sunday evening. Tunisia are expected to be here, getting to this stage was the minimum for them but Madagascar have performed better than expected to get here, and seeing them in the semi finals would of course be a big shock.
Both teams needed penalties in the last 16 round to get here, which gave them good practice in case they are needed again either in this one or later in the competition. For Madagascar, it was DR Congo who they knocked out on penalties, while Tunisia got the better of the strongly fancied Ghana in the shootout.
When you compare those games and look at the form from them, Tunisia had the tougher game of the two. They are seen themselves as a team with half a chance of winning this, and their last 16 opponents Ghana were amongst the favourites to win it. Compare that to Madagascar, who were big outsiders coming into the tournament just like DR Congo, the team they knocked out.
Tunisia have done a lot more to get here, faced the tougher opponent and on paper they have the best team anyway. All of that combined is why I fancy them to be the final team making it through to the semi finals on Sunday at the expense of Madagascar, who’s fairy tale in this competition looks as though it is coming to an end.
Madagascar vs Tunisia Betting Tips
Both teams went the distance in the last 16 round, but I don’t think we will be seeing that here. Although Madagascar deserve a lot of credit for how they have played in this tournament, I think the might of Tunisia is enough to stop them and send them home. Tunisia are one of a few teams who will feel they have a genuine chance of winning this, and they will see this as a golden opportunity to get into the final four, where Senegal lie in wait.
I think the final four is exactly where they are going, and I am backing them with confidence to beat Madagascar in this game on Thursday night.
