Tottenham Face Aston Villa As Premier League Returns
The Premier League’s return is finally upon us, which is a sentence that will undoubtedly excite the masses as the sport’s most popular league comes back into the limelight. It’s been an incredibly busy summer transfer window and, courtesy of the many international tournaments that we had to enjoy, it hasn’t really felt like there’s been all too much of a break. With that being said it’s going to be great to see some high level club football back on our screens, with one of the most intriguing games on Matchweek 1 being Tottenham Hotpsur vs Aston Villa.
While Tottenham may not have been able to get the top stars that they wanted in the final few days of the summer transfer window, there are certainly a few interesting additions that could give the club a bit more depth – which is something they’ve desperately needed for quite a while now. In terms of team news Son Heung-Min is suspended and will therefore be out of this game, with Lucas Moura being tipped to start. Lo Celso isn’t expected to start with Eriksen’s future also being in doubt, with Dier, Aurier and Wanyama all being assessed. One thing Tottenham fans can look forward to, however, is the debut of Tanguy Ndombele.
Since gaining promotion to the Premier League courtesy of their win in the Championship Playoff Final, Aston Villa have been on fire. They brought in no less than 12 new faces to the club during the transfer window, as they continue to make a push for the title of ‘Best club in the Midlands’ – currently being occupied by Wolves. Douglas Luiz and Marvelous Nakamba likely won’t be able to start this one, however, with Konsa picking up an injury that will also rule him out. Bjorn Engels and Tyrone Mings are set to feature as the centre-back partnership.
Tottenham vs Aston Villa Betting Prediction
There are a lot of things to like about this Aston Villa team, but when it comes to a game of this magnitude, it just feels like Spurs are going to be able to edge out the victory. It’s almost certainly going to be much tighter than a lot of people may have thought a few short months ago, and we actually think Spurs are only going to win 1-0. With that being said you need to have a certain edge to grind out wins in this division, and we think it’s going to take a few weeks before Villa get back into the swing of things after their tenure in the Championship.
