Swansea to beat Birmingham
Of the three teams to come down to the Championship from the Premier League, Swansea have been the least spoken about. People have mentioned the chances of both West Brom and Stoke making the jump back to the top flight at the first time of asking, but Swansea appear to have slipped under the radar a little. With a new coaching team in place and a handful of new signings there is no doubt that this team has changed. However, after the opening couple of weeks that change looks like it could be for the better, and give Swansea a chance to bounce back.
They arrive at their game against Birmingham on the back of two wins in league competition, and both have come against good Championship teams. They started their campaign with an away win at Sheffield United on the opening day, and followed that up with a home win against Preston. Both those clubs finished in the top half of the Championship last season, and set a good benchmark so it has to be highly encouraging for Swansea that they have beaten them both.
Their opponents on Friday night are Birmingham, who have struggled at the start of this season after avoiding the drop last season. They began with a home draw to Norwich on the opening day but have since followed that up with a league defeat to Middlesbrough and and a cup defeat away at Reading. Based on what we have seen so far from Birmingham there is nothing to suggest they are going to do anything other than find themselves towards the bottom of the table once again this season.
Birmingham vs Swansea Betting Tips
While it is very early in the season, it would be no surprise to see these two teams battling it out at opposite ends of the table. While I don’t think Swansea will be quite good enough for promotion and Birmingham look a little too good for relegation, that is where I feel these two teams will end up.
Birmingham have home advantage on Friday night which evens this tie out a little, although despite that I still fancy Swansea to pick up their third win in a row to continue what has been a very good start for them. This Birmingham team is there to be beaten right now, and Swansea have shown more than enough to take advantage.
I expected Swansea to start much slower than they have done this season, so there is no doubt they have been one of the surprise packages so far. However, when you look down their line up you see that they have players who are sure to do well in the Championship, so it probably shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to see them doing so well.
I don’t think they will run away with this game, but I am backing Swansea to win and they look more than capable of taking the three points from Birmingham based on what we have seen from both teams so far.
