Morocco Set to Keep Winning Run Going against Benin
Morocco have been pretty impressive early on in the African Cup Of Nations, recording three wins from their three group games. That doesn’t tell the whole story about their success and you can pick holes in it if you want. They have won all three games by a score of 1-0, and needed late goals to win two of them. Some people will see that as a concern but actually, I think it’s a positive for them. It shows they are determined and keep battling until the end, while also showing off their defensive talents, keeping Namibia, South Africa and the Ivory Coast off the scoresheet.
Benin are also unbeaten, with three draws in their group games. They drew 2-2 with Ghana to kick things off, and added 0-0 draws against Guinea-Bissau and Cameroon to bring a close to their group games. It hasn’t been impressive, but then again, just like Morocco, they have shown the ability to keep teams off the scoresheet with two clean sheets from three games.
With those defensive stats, I think it is fair to say we can expect a tight, low scoring game here. However, when it comes to attacking their opponents, Morocco have the clear advantage here and if anyone is going to score in this game, I believe it will be them. They appear to be growing into the tournament and I don’t think we have seen anywhere near their best just yet, whereas Benin are not expected to do much more than what they have done so far.
There is a place in the quarter finals up for grabs here, in what is an important game for both teams. However, in terms of skill on the pitch, it is Morocco that appear to have the most firepower and they are the team who can really kick on here and show they are a team that could potentially win this tournament.
Morocco vs Benin Betting Tips
I don’t think we will be seeing a goal fest on Friday when these two meet in the last 16 round of the African Nations. Both teams have shown defensive strength with five clean sheets from six games between them in the group stages. However, it is Morocco that have the better quality throughout their line up, and I fancy them to eventually break down this Benin defence.
It may not be a game for the neutrals, expect this to be tight, but I’m backing a Morocco win here.
