Monaco Look Good Value for Final Day Win in France
The final day of the Ligue 1 season is upon us, and on Friday night the clubs will take to the field for the final game of the regular season. Amongst those playing are Monaco, who have not had the easiest of seasons so far, but to be fair to them they have improved as time has passed, and the second half of the season has been much better than the first. They travel to Nice on the final day of the season, with more to play for than their hosts.
This is a nothing game for Nice, there is nothing at stake here for them. They currently sit in 8th position in the standings, and will finish either 7th, 8th or 9th depending on the results from the final day, so no drastic changes are potentially going to happen.
The same cannot be said for Monaco, while it is unlikely to happen, they could find themselves in the relegation playoff place, which would mean continuing to play for their Ligue 1 survival, something that don’t really want to do. If I was connected with Monaco, I would be putting everything into the game on Friday night to ensure this season is over with, it can be pushed to one side and plans and thoughts can then turn to how they make next season into a better one.
What is Required for Monaco to be in the Relegation Playoff?
Caen are currently in the relegation playoff place, with Amiens above them and then Monaco. Three points is the gap between Caen and Monaco, so for Monaco to get into trouble, Caen have to win their game and Monaco have to lose their. Amiens in the middle of them could escape with a draw, but that would then leave goal difference to solve it, while a win for Ameins would put them above Monaco.
Then it would all come down to goal difference between Caen and Monaco. The current gap between the two teams is seven goals, so we would need a swing of more than that amount to change the placings. For example, if Caen were to win 4-0 and Monaco lost 4-0, that would be a swing of eight goals, and that would put Monaco in the relegation playoff.
The chances of this happening are very unlikely, but it is worth mentioning just in case it should come up, we have seen a lot of strange things happen in football over the past few weeks, and Monaco will be hoping to avoid another here.
Nice vs Monaco Betting Tips
The end of this season can’t come quick enough for Monaco, who have been very disappointing to say the least. Things have picked up as we have moved towards the end of the season, and that should be enough to keep them safe here. We all know they are capable of much better than what we have seen from them this season, and an important summer awaits them as they look to bounce back and get into the top half of Ligue 1, which is where they belong.
They have one more game ahead of them first though, this away trip to Nice. I don’t think Monaco will want to take any chances here, they will want to go out and win the game, to ensure they are safe without relying on anyone else to help them out, and this appears to be a good opportunity to do that.
Nice are up in 8th position right now, but they have not been at their best in the final few games of the season, and I think they are there for the taking. They have slowed down as it has become apparent that they are going to finish mid table, and that has seen them win just one of their last six. They were soundly beaten by St Etienne 3-0 last weekend, and this is a team that is already on the beach and enjoying the summer by the looks of it.
That isn’t the right attitude to have ahead of any game of football, let alone one where your opponents are going to come out and play strong to win the game and claim survival. I think Nice have packed up and forgot about football too early, and I am going to back Monaco to go there and take home all three points with them. This has not been a good season for them, but this final game offers a chance to put a smile on the faces of their fans.
We all know Monaco are a lot better than we have seen from them this season, and next season we will have to see what happens with them. However, before then they have one final chance to impress us, I think they will take it and I am backing a Monaco win on the final day on Friday.
