Middlesbrough Can Edge Clash of the Championship Big Guns
There are many teams fighting for promotion from the Championship this season and two of them are Middlesbrough and West Brom. Both are ex-Premier League clubs who are trying to get back into the big time, with West Brom having their first year down in the Championship after relegation last season. Both have spent big this summer in an attempt to get back into the big time, and anything other than a top six finish would probably be seen as a disappointment for them.
Middlesbrough drew on the opening day of the season but since then they have won three games in a row, including a great win away to Bristol City last weekend. This has been a very good start for Boro, and they appear to be stamping their authority on the division from an early stage.
West Brom are in the Championship and looking to get back into the Premier League at the first attempt. They look to have a chance, and they have spent big in an attempt to get back up, so are certainly one of the teams of interest this season. After an opening day loss and a draw at Nottingham Forest in their second game, West Brom have since won their last two games and look far more comfortable at this level. They beat QPR 7-1 last weekend, showing that they mean business and if they can kick on from that they are going to be very dangerous opponents for anyone.
With two of the top teams going head to head, this is likely to be a very good encounter, and a football game of the highest order.
Middlesbrough vs West Brom Betting Tips
There is little to choose between these two teams, and both have performed very well recently showing they are up for the fight from an early stage. However, out of these two teams the slight edge has to go to Middlesbrough, who are more accustomed to life in the Championship, and they can make that count in this big game on Friday. They also have home advantage which will help, and although we are only in August, the fans will know how important this clash is and they will want to do all they can to help get their team over the line.
One thing we have seen from Middlesbrough so far has been tight defensive play and they have conceded just two goals in their opening four games. West Brom on the other hand have conceded seven in the same number of games, something that they will need to address over the coming weeks.
This should be a cracking game, and played to a very high standard so it is certainly one worth tuning in for on Friday. The edge goes to Middlesbrough, and they can take what could turn out to be a very valuable three points later in the season when both of these clubs are trying their best to get back up into the Premier League.
