Manchester United Can Ease to First Friendly Victory
Manchester United take to the field for the first time this summer on Friday when they face Mexican team Club America. This is a regular friendly game for United, before they begin their Champions Cup campaign, so all this is about for them is fitness. However despite that, they will want to get off to winning ways, and although many players are going to be missing for them, they do have enough in their squad to comfortably take this game.
Jose Mourinho will go into the game without his World Cup stars, something that will give many fringe players the chance to shine. The pre-season games are always a chance for this to happen at any club, and United will be looking and hoping that some of their younger players can stand up and show they deserve a chance this season.
Of the three new signings that Jose Mourinho has made, two of them will travel and play in this one, with goalkeep Lee Grant and defender Diogo Dalat on the plane. Fred, like the others who played in the World Cup, has opted to stay at home and rest, but he will join up with the squad later.
Another player at home although not by choice is Alexis Sanchez. He has had visa issues which have prevented him from getting into the US, and this is something the club would love to get sorted out soon. They cannot afford to go into the new season with Sanchez off the pace due to a lack of work with the first team, so will be hoping to fly him out shortly. Whatever happens in the future, United will have to start their stint in America without him on Friday.

Manchester United start their pre-season campaign with a winnable game against Club America, before facing much tougher tests including the Champions Cup further down the line. They will want to make a winning start to life in America and that is something I believe they will do. The team playing will be a mixture of experienced players, fringe squad players and youngsters who are desperate to impress. That mix can be enough to beat Club America, who don’t play at a very high level in Mexico and look to be up against it here.
This looks set to be a very important season for Manchester United, and their fans will be looking for them to close the gap in their rivals Manchester City. However, with how the summer has gone so far they are looking over their shoulder at teams like Liverpool and Arsenal who have impressed with their recruitment so far this summer. Pre-season will be an important time for Manchester United, to show their fans and rivals that they are ready for the challenge ahead this season.
