Man City And Tottenham Face Off In Premier League Showdown
The Premier League returns this weekend, and while there are a lot of entertaining games for fans to enjoy, it’s quite clear to see that the headliner is going to be Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad. Both teams have high ambitions for the brand new season that lies ahead, with City certainly wanting to get their own back on Pochettino’s men after they ended their Champions League quest last season. Above all else, though, we can say pretty confidently that the standard of football will almost certainly be pretty excellent.
City opened up the new season with a 5-0 demolition of West Ham United, although they did take a while to get going. In terms of the team news, the expectation is that Pep won’t make any changes to the team that got the win over the Hammers. Mahrez is expected to maintain his spot in the starting XI as a result, with Sane and Mendy still being out with their respective injuries. Cancelo and Fernandinho are on the verge of returning but still need to get back to full fitness, whereas Aguero and Bernardo Silva are both going to be pushing for a place in the team.
Tottenham faced some adversity of their own against Aston Villa, going behind to the Midlands side early on. It took them until the later stages of the second half, but eventually, they managed to overturn the deficit and wound up securing the three points with just a few minutes to go. In terms of team news Alli, Foyth and Sessegnon are all injured and won’t feature in this game, with Son Heung-min serving the final game of his ban. Lo Celso has been in training as of late, whereas Eriksen is set to start.
Manchester City vs Tottenham Betting Prediction
Tottenham have an incredibly talented squad and they know how to get the best of City, but right now, we just feel like nobody is going to be able to stop Pep Guardiola for quite some time. We can see them failing to score quite as freely as they did against West Ham, which should keep Spurs in the game until the last few minutes. Even with that being the case, though, City will still make it look comfortable for all fans watching as they continue their quest to try and win the Premier League title for the third consecutive year.
