Mallorca Fancied to Gain Advantage Against Albacete
Mallorca take on Albacete in the second of the Spanish Segunda playoff games on Thursday night. This is the first of two legs, taking place in Mallorca and the teams will fight it out again a few days from now in Albacete to decide the winner. Whoever does that will play in the final, taking on either Deportivo or Malaga.
Albacete are coming into the playoffs on a poor run, falling from 2nd down to 4th in the table after a string of late defeats. They have to somehow turn things around, although given the form we have seen from them recently that is not going to be easy. At one point they looked to be genuine automatic promotion contenders and now they are scrapping for promotion in the playoffs, that is going to be tough to handle for them from a mental point of view.
Mallorca are not exactly pulling up trees at the moment either, although they are in better form and they have been on course for the playoffs for quite a while now. They did only win one of their last five though to get here, and the challenge for them has to be going from cruising to the end, to playing in a high intensity game once again where they need to win. Their form is not as concerning as they have been playing for nothing, but they have to turn the switch and get back to their best on Thursday night.
Mallorca vs Albacete Betting Tips
A big game and the first of two between these two teams, with the second leg in a few days. Mallorca are the home side here, and will feel like they need to win to get an advantage to take away with them if they are to have any chance of progressing. Neither team has been in great form coming into this, but Albacete have struggled, whereas Mallorca have been cruising into the playoffs.
I think Mallorca will bounce back here and step up with a big game in front of them. Based on what we have seen recently from the two sides, I think they are slightly better and having home advantage only adds to that. I am backing them to win this game, and take an advantage with them into the second leg.
