Havant and Waterlooville Host Aldershot in Bottom of the Table Battle
We may only be at the beginning of September but the game on Wednesday night between Havant and Waterlooville and Aldershot has huge significance. Both teams have struggled to get going in August, and both are hovering around the relegation zone, Havant are inside, while Aldershot are just one point and one place ahead of them. This is a very big game for both clubs, and over the course of the next month both of these will be looking to kick on, pick up some points and move away from the relegation zone. A win against another team down at the bottom of the table would be a great way to start.
Other than a really poor 4-0 defeat at Bromley, Havant and Waterlooville have not been playing too badly recently, but they haven’t really got the rewards they deserve. A good win against Braintree and a point against Salford showed their potential, but then after defeat at Bromley they also lost at Hartlepool. The Hartlepool result wasn’t too bad, they are expected to challenge at the top of the league, so overall the last few games have been pretty good for Havant.
There is one huge area of concern for Aldershot fans, something that the team will be hoping to address over the coming games and that is goal scoring. They have scored just five goals in their first eight games and without any real attacking threat, they are going to struggle this season. Adding goals to their current team should be enough to see them climb the table a little, and that will no doubt be the aim for September. Teams who struggle to score goals often find themselves at the bottom of the league and in a relegation battle, and I am sure Aldershot will know that.
Havant and Waterlooville vs Aldershot Betting Tips
There is a lot at stake here, and this will likely feel like a very big game to those who are involved, either fans or players. There is no need to panic for either of these teams, but September will either help them move away from trouble, or confirm that they are likely to be involved in a relegation battle going forward, something that neither of them will want.
An area of concern for Aldershot will be their goal scoring and Havant will go into this game at their home ground thinking that they can bag a clean sheet. When you couple that with their recent form, where they have played better than the results suggest, Havant and Waterlooville have to be the pick in this game. They can keep a clean sheet here against a team who are struggling to score, and hopefully they can take a chance or two in front of goal to win the game.
We have seen enough from Havant over the past few weeks to suggest they are better than their current position in the league table, and they can prove that here. I am backing a Havant victory in this game, at a decent price at home to a team that look very short when it comes to goals and a team who look likely to struggle throughout the season at the bottom of the table.
