France Fancied to be Far Too Strong for Moldova
World Cup champions France begin their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign on Friday night as they start the quest to land back to back major championships. This really is a golden age for French football, and the team that won the World Cup last summer is more than capable of going on again and picking up another trophy. A big positive for them is that they are young enough to do that, with many of their squad only just coming into their prime now. It is clear to see why there is so much excitement surrounding French football with the players they have in their squad, and it is going to take a very good team to stop them from winning the Euro 2020 title.
Up first though, they have to qualify for the main event, although that should be a walk in the park for a team of this calibre. They face five opponents in the group stages, with Turkey, Iceland, Albania, Andorra and Moldova making up the numbers. The first two mentioned of those teams, Turkey and Iceland, are the two who will battle it out behind France for the second qualifying spot, and if anyone can take points from France in this group then it is them two. The rest appear to have little chance of making it through, and will be playing for positioning amongst themselves more than anything else.
In their first game on Friday night, France travel to Moldova for what should be a comfortable night for them. Their opponents are expected to be fighting it out at the wrong end of the table, though with Andorra also in this group, Moldova will be hopeful of avoiding the wooden spoon. What is more likely for them is a battle with Albania for the fourth and fifth spots in this group, they should be behind the bigger teams but more than capable of beating Andorra to ensure they finish bottom of the pile.
This game offers France a nice easy entry into the tournament, and anything other than seeing them win on Friday night would be a huge shock in the footballing world.
Can France Win Back to Back Championships
Make no mistake here, winning back to back championships with the World Cup and the Euro’s is very difficult to do and only the very best teams have a chance to do this. You have to include France in that though, after seeing their dominance and tactical awareness in the World Cup of 2018. They were by far the best team in the tournament, and played some great football in the latter stages. However, they were able to do that in part thanks to their ability to coast through the early games and just do enough to win. They managed themselves very well throughout the tournament and it is little things like that which can separate the very best teams from those who are very good.
This French team has the youth and the character in it to win again for sure, you only have to look at Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe to see that they are in good hands. Those two are the real driving force behind this team, and they are young enough to be at the top of their game for the next world cup, let alone next year when the European Championships take place. It is a scary prospect to think that France could actually be better next summer, but with more experience under their belts then there is every chance that they will be.
When you look down their line up, this could be the start of something special for France, and something that has already seen them lift the World Cup. If things go to plan, and another major trophy is won then we could be talking about this team as being one of the greatest teams ever, though another trophy is needed before we start going down that route.
Moldova vs France Betting Tips
This should be a very comfortable night for the French, and they look set to win this game with ease on Friday. They have far too much quality for most teams to deal with, let alone a team who are one of the smallest in Europe like Moldova.
We have a real mis-match here, and the only outcome I can see is France winning this game by three or four goals, maybe even more. I am backing France on the -2 handicap line to give us some value in this one, which means they need to win the game by three goals or more. I can see them showing their class here, and with so many good attacking options, I can see them scoring plenty against a Moldova defence that is likely to be left shell-shocked by how good the French are.
