England Looking to March On Against Sweden
On Saturday afternoon much of England will come to a standstill as the Three Lions take on Sweden in the World Cup quarter finals. England are two games away from making the final, and this young team has captured the hearts of the nation. Going into the tournament, little was expected from Gareth Southgate’s men, but as the team have impressed and progressed, interest has hit record levels. Everyone will be tuning in to see what happens, and this is a game that the Three Lions favourties for, and fancied to win.
There is no doubt that the draw for the knockout stages has helped England’s chances a lot. However, that is the luck you need sometimes, and they now have to take advantage of it and use it as a positive as they head into their game against Sweden.
England should be full of confidence after a penalty shootout win against Colombia, the first time they have won a shootout at the World Cup. By doing that and getting that monkey off their backs, should this game go into a shootout England will fancy their chances. They also bounced back from a tough late goal going against them, another test of the character within the squad, and one they passed with flying colours. While having a young team isn’t always the best way to go at tournaments, it appears that nothing fazes this young English group of footballers, and they are taking everything in their stride.
Sweden vs England Betting Tips
However, having said all of that, I believe this will be a slightly easier game for England than the one against Colombia. The first thing is they are not going to face the dirty tactics and antics they had to endure from the Colombians this time, Sweden will play the game in a normal fashion. The second reason is that Sweden generally don’t create too many chances, and the English defence will firmly believe they can keep a clean sheet here. They have grown with each game in the tournament, played very well against Colombia and can keep a clean sheet here.
With Harry Kane in attack for England, they are not going to need many chances to score goals against Sweden. He has six goals to his name so far, and is two clear in the race for the Golden Boot, so Kane is chasing goals both for his team and for his own personal benefit.
England are one step away from reaching the World Cup semi-finals, and they can take their chance and beat Sweden. They have the better team on paper, and they have been through a lot as a group, something that is only going to help them overcome anything that is thrown at them over the course of Saturday’s game.
The whole of the nation will be behind England, with fans in attendance at the game and pubs up and down the country packed out with expected supporters, I don’t think England are going to let them down in this one.
