Crystal Palace Attempt To Shock Champions Manchester City
After some entertaining international football action we’ll be returning to the domestic game this weekend as we all gear up for an important series of fixtures in the Premier League. One game that is going to be particularly intriguing will see Crystal Palace host Manchester City at Selhurst Park, in what has bizarrely turned out to be a game pitting 6th against 2nd in the table. Both teams have given as good as they’ve got in the last three meetings between them, which should lead to a pretty entertaining showdown in what could quite easily be the game of the weekend.
Palace’s last six games have been eventful, and they’ve also been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. They started off against Colchester where they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup on penalties, before managing to edge past Aston Villa in the Premier League. They were then battered 4-0 by Tottenham Hotspur, before letting a 1-0 lead slip against Wolves in the dying minutes to eventually draw 1-1. However, they bounced back in the best way possible as they registered two back to back victories over Norwich City and West Ham United. In terms of the team news, Milivojevic is set to return after his suspension with Sakho being on the verge of a return to the starting XI.
City, on the other hand, continue to follow the trend of dominating everyone before a somewhat surprising slip-up knocks them back down off of their perch. They were able to defeat Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 in the Champions League before utterly decimating Watford 8-0 in the Premier League. They then walked through Preston North End in the Carabao Cup, beat Everton 3-1 and eased to vicory against Dinamo Zagreb in Europe. Alas, it all came crashing down at the Etihad as they were surprisingly beaten 2-0 by Wolverhampton Wanderers. City should be seeing the return of Stones and De Bruyne for this game with Mendy also being set to return, whereas Cancelo will fight for his place in the first team ahead of Zinchenko.
Crystal Palace vs Manchester City Prediction
Palace are going to come at City with quite literally everything they’ve got, and that should make for a pretty fun encounter. They’ll attempt to hit them on the break and remain as steady as they can defensively, but in the end, Pep’s men will just be too much for them. We think they’ll score half way through the first half before adding another early in the second, and eventually, that’ll take them all the way through until full time as they begin their pursuit of runaway leaders Liverpool at the top of the table.
