Colombia Can Top Group H From Unlikely Position
Group H is looking like the closest of the World Cup groups so far, and with the right results Colombia can take top spot from what was an unlikely position. The Colombians are the best team in this group, but got off to the worst possible start in their opening game of the tournament. Within five minutes against Japan they were down to 10 men and despite a good effort they lost that game 2-1.
We saw what they were made of when we saw them take to the field in Russia for a second time, a game which they won 3-0 against Poland. That was an outstanding performance by them, and one that sent Poland home. They didn’t play too badly, but simply couldn’t keep up with the pace and quality of Colombia going forward. This is a dangerour team, and one that can land their second win of the group stages when they take on Senegal on Thursday afternoon.
Just one point separates Japan, Senegal and Colombia, with Japan currently holding the advantage over their two rivals. Colombia look set to win this clash, which would send Senegal home alongside Poland. A win for Colombia coupled with a draw or loss for Japan would move Colombia to the top of Group H, and put them through as winners which they probably wouldn’t have expected after their opening game.
Senegal are a big strong team and have ability, but just like Poland, they look like they are going to struggle to keep up with the pace that Colombia have on the break. This is going to be a game of contrasting styles, but it is pace and attacking flair that looks set to come out on top. Senegal will try and boss the midfield, using their size and strength, but Colombia will find a way past that, and when their wide men get on the ball and run at defenders, that is when they are going to cut open the Senegal defence.
Colombia vs Senegal – Betting Tip
In what looks sure to be an exciting afternoon of football with two vital games taking place, Colombia look set to be the winners. They are an exciting team with a point to prove after their opening day loss to Japan. Look out for them to attack from the off, and play a style of football that is very pleasing on the eye. Their pace and attacking intent will cause problems amongst the Senegal defence, and they will simply not be able to live with Colombia, much like Poland couldn’t when they met.
The South Americans are better than their league position suggests they are, and if the result goes their way in the other game, not only are they going to win this game, but they will also leave Group H and head into the knockout round as group winners.
This is a strong Colombian team, and one that can dispatch of Senegal with ease on Thursday afternoon.
