Chelsea Battle Leicester City In Premier League
The Premier League returns this weekend as both Chelsea and Leicester City look for their first win of the new campaign. It looks like one of the most intriguing matches of the weekend, with both sides looking to finish in the top eight. Both clubs are working under new regimes in one way or another, with Brendan Rodgers enjoying his first full season in charge whereas Frank Lampard finally takes charge of the club that put him on the map. Something has got to give on Sunday, and we can’t wait to see what both sides can produce.
Chelsea kicked off their new campaign against Manchester United, and in the early stages, they actually looked pretty good. However, once the Red Devils were really able to get into their rhythm, the Blues just couldn’t keep up. In terms of team news the expectation is that Willian could be fit enough to come off of the bench, but Antonio Rudiger is more of a doubt. Pulisic and Kante both showed some bright sparks against Liverpool in the Super Cup, with the expectation being that they’ll feature here with Kante going up against his former club once again.
Leicester fought hard in their game against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, with a draw being a somewhat fair result – despite Wolves having a goal ruled out for handball under pretty controversial circumstances. The biggest injury concern for the visitors is going to be Nampalys Mendy, but he wasn’t expected to feature in the starting XI one way or another. Rodgers is tipped to name an unchanged team from the aforementioned draw, although they’re expected to line up in a bit more of a defensive stance given that Chelsea are almost certainly going to be coming at them with everything they’ve got as they go after their first PL win.
Chelsea vs Leicester Betting Prediction
We think Leicester have the ability to give Chelsea some substantial problems, but not to the point where they’re going to get anything from the game itself. The situation at Stamford Bridge may not be ideal, but we think Lampard is going to get the best out of a lot of these players. They’re already playing some good football and they were unlucky to lose in the Super Cup against Liverpool, and when they go up against the Foxes, we think they’ll be played close but in the end they’ll manage to get the job done.
