Bristol City Tackle Leeds In Championship Opener
The Championship is back and after Luton & Middlesbrough put on a show for the world to see last night, it’s time to find out what the other 22 teams in the division are going to bring to the table. Two such examples are Bristol City and Leeds United, both clubs that have a lot of history on their side – and a great deal of disappointment, too. With both finishing in the top eight yet failing to make it to the playoff final, you just know that they’re going to have the kind of chip on their shoulder that ensures entertainment for the casual fan.
Bristol City have never played in the Premier League before, but their fanbase are starting to believe they’re getting a little bit closer with each and every passing year. Last time out they finished in eighth place, just a few points behind Derby, who wound up reaching the playoff final. For the start of this season, though, Antoine Semenyo is suspended with Dan Bentley being out with an injury. Szmodics is expected to be given a Championship debut, with Eliasson & Weimann being favoured to lead the line as two of the more intriguing wingers in the league.
Leeds were forced to face the disappointment of finishing in third place, knowing that they had automatic promotion in their own hands on so many occasions. They wound up losing to Derby County in their playoff semi-final, with the manner of the defeat being particularly upsetting for the fans. For their season opener, Helder Costa is expected to start after arriving from Wolves whereas Berardi is out with an injury. Jack Harrison, who is currently on loan from Manchester City, is expected to feature as the road back to the Premier League begins all over again for the Northerners.
Bristol City vs Leeds Betting Prediction
Coming off the back of a season that ended with such heartbreak is disappointing, but we think Leeds are good enough to push back and really go after promotion this time around. We’re backing them to start the season off with a morale boosting victory, with Bristol City struggling to really get themselves going. It seems like they’re going to have an interesting campaign to say the least, but when it comes to the season opener, we don’t think Leeds will allow this opportunity to slip through their fingers again – because if they do, heads will roll.
