Belgium Take on England in the Game No One Wants to Play
The game that nobody wants to play in is this one. This game features both beaten semi-finalists, Belgium and England and I’m sure all they want to do is get on the plane and come back home after their defeat. This game is probably the last thing on their mind, and it would be much better for the players if FIFA decided to scrap this.
However, it does give the fans one more chance to see their team play, and both teams would like to finish third to pick up the bronze medal. I think both teams will make changes for this game, giving their players who have not played yet a chance to get on the field at a World Cup.
I also expect to see no one risked in this game, something else that will force changes. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that three or four players from each team have been carrying injuries during the tournament, and those players certainly will not play in this one.
When you look at the squads available to each team, there is a lot more to like about the Belgian back up players than the English ones and that gives them an advantage here. These two have already met once in the competition, with Belgium winning that game 1-0. That was also a game where they decided to rest players, so it wouldnt be a surprise to see the same outcome again here.
England vs Belgium Betting Tips
Without knowing the team line ups going into the game this is a very difficult game to pick. It is almost certain that both teams will rest players in this one, and should they both do that then Belgium have the better back up team to come in and play.
The loss to Croatia will have really hurt England, and they may not be mentally ready to come out and play this game, even though the team is likely to feature a large number of players who didn’t make it onto the field for that loss. While Belgium also lost in their semi-final, they didn’t have the same agonising defeat as England did, and they can bounce back quicker than the Three Lions.
In what is a tough game to work out, I’m backing Belgium who are likely to be better prepared for this and have already registered a win over England at the tournament.
