Argentina Take On Qatar In Huge Copa America Showdown
The Copa America has already provided us with enough thrills and spills to last a lifetime, but even with that being the case, it seems as if the tournament has still got more to give. We’re only just coming to the end of the group stages and plenty of nations will still feel like they’re in with a realistic chance of winning the whole thing. Some would’ve resigned themselves to going home early, but two countries that are well and truly still in the hunt (bizarrely enough) are Qatar and, by the skin of their teeth, Argentina.
As the Champions of Asia as well as the hosts of the next World Cup, it’s quite clear to see that Qatar are on the rise in the world of international football. As an invited team, many wouldn’t have expected them to do all too much, but they started off their campaign at Copa America with a really entertaining 2-2 draw with Paraguay. They followed that up with a narrow 1-0 loss to Colombia, but even in defeat, they were able to once again prove that they can hang with teams that would’ve dismantled them just a few short years ago.
Argentina are in trouble, and there’s just no other way of getting around it. They came into this tournament knowing that Messi is gunning for a title on the international stage, but the bottom line is that they just aren’t good enough right now. They kicked off their campaign with a disappointing 2-0 loss to Colombia, which kind of gives you an idea of where they’re at right now. They followed it up with a less than convincing 1-1 draw against Paraguay, meaning that they have to get all three points against Qatar to even stand a chance at progressing into the next round.
Qatar vs Argentina Betting Prediction
Qatar are going to give it everything they’ve got and rightly so, but aren’t at all convinced that they can overcome a hungry Lionel Messi. We know that the world’s best player doesn’t really play up to that tag on the international stage, but we still think he’s going to be able to pull this one out of the bag. This could be one of his last opportunities to try and win a big tournament with Argentina, and while Qatar are a team to watch heading into the next World Cup, we just don’t think this will be their time.
