Salford City have been one of the biggest names in non-league football for the past few seasons, working their way up the ranks thanks to investment from a famous group of old Manchester United football players. The group, including both Neville brothers, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes have put good money into Salford with the hope of reaching the football league. They are one step away now, although the National League is very hard to get out of, and it may take them a few attempts to do so.

On Tuesday they travel to AFC Fylde, and both teams will be looking to continue their good recent form. After losing two of their opening three games, Salford are unbeaten in their last five games, with three wins and two draws. Despite that good run, they are still only 11th in the table and will be looking for more over the coming weeks.

AFC Fylde have started this season brilliantly and they are yet to lose a game. Four wins and four draws from their opening eight games has put them into 3rd place and if things go their way this week they could find themselves holding onto top spot. Defensively AFC Fylde have been exceptional, and they have conceded just four goals so far which is joint best in the division.

The AFC Fylde defence will once again be hard to break down and Salford will be hoping that Adam Rooney can help them do that. He has been brought in on big money this season, and is expected to be one of a few players that can provide a promotion push after coming in from Scotland.

Salford City – The Manchester United Connection

Since announcing that a group of former Manchester United players had bought the majority of the club, Salford City have been in the spotlight. There is no doubt that the United connection has brought them great publicity, but it has also put huge pressure on them to succeed. Becoming a league football team in such a short space of time is a huge task, and many different things need to come together for that to happen, both on and off the field. However, with the famous connection to Manchester United, there is far more interest, and high expectations on Salford to deliver the goods and make the league as soon as possible.

One thing you can’t accuse the former players of being is soft and not taking this seriously. The club has received huge investment from them during their reign, and even though they are now playing at their highest ever level, it is reported that they are the biggest spending club in the National League. The spending power they have, the connection to Manchester United and the famous ex-professionals that are running the club all give them an advantage. However, the National League is as tough as it gets, and promotion from this league will not be easy to achieve, regardless of how much money is spent.

AFC Fylde vs Salford City Betting Tips

Both teams arrive here in good form, but it is impossible to not be impressed with AFC Fylde, and especially their defensive record so far this season. They are 3rd in the league, and look set for a very good campaign, and they can add another three points to that here on Tuesday night.

Salford are no doubt coming together nicely, and they have a very good attacking team, but this is about as tough as it gets for them right now, and I think they are going to fall short of what is required. This should be a very good game, and a good battle between the solid defensive play of AFC Fylde and the big money front line of Salford City. I am going with AFC Fylde to win this on home soil, and continue what has been a great start for them.
